Shillong is a beautiful hill station and capital of the state of Meghalaya, known as the Scotland of East because of its serene and picturesque landscape. The city is well connected by road and air. Distance to Shillong airport is about 25 km, and to Guwahati airport is about 125 km. Guwahati railway station is at a distance of about 100 km from the city. It’s a major tourist attraction in NER with a variety of attractions for the visitors such as the manicured gardens at Lady Hydari Park, Walking trails of Ward’s Lake, the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures features displays on the region’s native people, beautiful waterfalls include the Elephant Falls, forested Shillong Peak offering city views, History old golf course, Butterfly Museum etc. Cherrapunjee, the wettest place on the planet earth is just a two hours drive from the city, same is the distance for the Mawlynnong, the Asia’s cleanest Village. Visit to Dawki for a boating in the crystal clear Umngot river or a leisure time at picturesque Krang Suri waterfall is memorable experience for the visitors. Winter will just set in month of November in Shillong with temperature varying between 10°C to 25°C and relative humidity ranging from 40 to 90%, requiring warm clothes to carry.
